Subject: [CR]Vintage tires

Greetings

I recently purchasd a 1970 Harry Quinn that was virtually unridden and has that cool patina of age. It is a mix of parts including Zeus, Campy, Weinmann and TTT.

Here is my question. The tires are sewups and labeled Vittoria Competizione. What is odd is that the tread is orange and the sidewalls are tan. The tread looks almost unridden as well but the dry rot forming on the sidewalls probably precludes riding them (although they do hold air).

Does anyone know anything about these tires, particularly their age? I had never seen them before and assumed that the craze for colored tires was a fairly recent phenomenon.

Thanks
