Hi Folks,
I recently picked up two Gitane Tour de France frames (got a deal) - I know these aren't that high on the order of collectables but I thought someone might be interested in entering into some E-barter with me. They are both much too big for me - they would be good project frames. I would like to try and trade both of them for one decent project frame in my size range - 53-56cm.
They are both 58cm c-c ST, 58cm c-c TT. They are both c.1970 - the seatstay treatment is slightly different on each. Only one has its chromed fork and Stronglight headset - it has been repainted (badly) a funny pinky grey. There is a fair bit of surface rust but the chrome is in good shape. The frame looks straight, but has a small dent at the top of the right seat-stay. The second frame is without fork and is cosmetically in much rougher shape (typical problems with Gitane paint jobs - a good deal of surface rust). It does, however, have most of its original foil stickers (albeit some in rough shape). The frame is white. Both are the usual 531 throughout - Simplex dropouts, Prugnat(?) lugs.
If anyone is interested, please contact me off-list and let me know what you have.
Thanks,
