You should be able to get your dealer to get some Velox Tressostar tape. It comes in black, blue, red and white. I usually sell two rolls for $5. Track riders still prefer cloth tape. I still like to use the Velox bar end plugs too. They're the rubber donut plugs that expand.

Brian -- have you checked to see what Euro Asia has for tubular rims. The last time I looked, they still had a good assortment of rims. I have an assortment of old rims but most are 32H. I train, race, tour and cyclocross on tubulars. I'd have them on my mountain bike too if they were made.

We all rode 36H wheels up until Mavic started coming out with the GP4's, etc.. I would say it was in the 80's that riders started using 32H hubs. The new rims are much better but heavier than the old rims. We used to be happy to get a season out of a pair of rims. Now I can race a full cyclocross season on my Velocity Escapes, pull the cross tires off and use them as my race wheels during the road season.
