Many years ago I thought about opeing a bike shop but figured I would take a
part time job at one to see what it would be like and get a feel for it. I
have a college education am clean cut and articulate. I have lots of
knowledge and am an excellent mechanic. The owner of the shop pulled me
into the office one day and gave me a royal chewing out and told me that I
spent way too much time talking with the customers. They come in to buy
things not talk. Ha, I thought getting them to like you and making a
connection was important. I laughed in his face which made him even more
upset, it is nice to not need the minimum wage job. He then told me he was
dissapointed because I had a future there up until then. He had no idea
that my regular job pays far more than he makes owning his bike shop. Oh
well I still want a bike shop some day but I don't think I can ever talk my
wife into it.
