Most of the things I can relay now have already been reported, and with great detail, warmth, and enthusiasim. So I will try to keep this ramble a bit shorter.Saturday's seminars/talks were great! I learn so much from these, and if not learn, at least really come to appreciate the presenters viewpoints and love for the bicycle and the community we all share. Eddy's jersey and the '03 TDF Flag! unbelievable!!! (Thanks, Brett). 6-Day race footage? Fantastic!!! Peter's stories, and Chris's clear explaination of the mysteries of design and Grant's infectous attitudes and beliefs and commitment to the art and practicallity are all wonderful presentations. These things do, as John P. said, let us know we are not alone in our world.I forgot earlier to mention Brian's lug art demo. I was really impressed with the work involved and was priveleged to be up close and personal to have him show how it is done. This kind of show makes us realize the art involved and suddenly the cost of a custom frame seems very reasonable. The dinner at Anton's, as all the food gatherings, bring us to the friendship building side of the weekend, where we can learn more about each other, and talk about other things, not just bikes. I was pleased to be able to sit across from Grant Petersen and Curt Goodrich, and get to know these guys on a bit more personal level ( a treat for me,as I ride a Riv. designed Rambouillet). The BI 4th floor John P. bike show and auction were a real hoot, and more time to socialize and learn more about bikes and fixed gears than I could absorb in years without this involvement.Sunday. Decided to forgo the ride due to time constrants. Knew I'd be leaving by mid afternoon. So up to the Lewis Center after breakfast (try Herbie's, on Battleground, just north of Pisgah Church Road.). The show is sensory overload! the bikes, the jerseys, the parts. I wandered over to the regular vendor side for a minute or two, and ran screeming back to 'our' side! Sorry I could not take time to stay till the end. Certainly sounds like there were some wonderful, emotional, moments. Next year, thru Monday! Thanks to all of you who made this worth it all, especially Dale!Gas and Tolls: $50; Food and Beverage: $130; Hotel: $110; CdC Registration: $30; Purchases: $170. Getting to hang out with the coolest bike people and making new friends and attending the Cirque: PRICELESS!!!! Ron "I need more money" GurthCarmel, IN
