Sounds about right, except trying to compare parts of '74 to those of today is almost impossible. I'm looking at the prices in specific. So with these two examples being equal to $658 and $1538 respectively in 2002 dollars. You get much more with today's bikes in terms of quality and engineering for your dollar. Though you have to pay a whole lot more for some style these days.

Also a note to folks about the weight issue. Take any modern bike and replace the STI/Ergo shifters with DT shifters and brake levers and remove 3-5 cogs and the weight differences will become more exaggerated. I don't expect most folks to believe this. If you don't, get a modern bike and do as I say and check it out. I've done this experiment. enjoy, Brandon"monkeyman"Ives ++++++++++++++++++++ Nobody can do everything, but if everybody did something everything would get done. --Gil Scott-Heron-- ++++++++++++++++++++
