I've seen lots of Brooks saddles and, perhaps I'm not very observant, but I don't recall ever seeing one with what appears to be a factory installed cardboard under the top leather. At first I thought the liner was also leather but the fingernail test indicates that it's paper or some composite material.
The saddle is an oval logo "Champion B17 Narrow" which has seen some hard use.

Is the liner unusual or am I finally in the grip of Old Timers disease?
