To a collector, an item that breaks easily, wears out quickly or is consumable is, by it's very nature, in high demand for someone who believes that these 'correct' parts are the most authentic way to kit out the bike. They command high prices specifically because the parts do not last and supply is finite. How high the demand and how short the supply is one thing that determines what exorbitant prices you'll see.

World Logo hoods are not junk when compared to what else was out there when these hoods were in production. Universal gum hoods are far more 'bio-degradable' IMHO.
