Despite a dodgy weather forecast, and clashing with a fixture of the local UCI franchise, Auckland's retro ride saw its biggest turnout on Sunday.

Fourteen, count 'em fourteen, hardy punters set forth after being entertained by a show & tell session that featured treasures such as Kerry Holland's Pino Morroni QR skewers, and Kim Sinclair's liberaly drilled Zeus crankset. Chris Tennent-Brown modelled his Pennygate team kit, complete with Oakley factory pilots, just to show that bad taste is not a new problem.

Once on the road, we headed south, aided by a howling tailwind. Stu Williams decided that this was a good time to be seen on the front, and thanks to some misdirection by CT-B, took us straight to the Ardmore cafe, eschewing the normal longer route via Clevedon. At this point my saddle decided to part company with my seat post, so I missed the sight of Allister Worrall & Chris Tennent-Brown flabbily reliving their junior days on the inevitable ascent of Twilight Rd.

Special mention must go to Kim Sinclair, who brought his 1975 Bianchi Specialissima out of retitement, and to Timaru resident Kerry Holland, who managed to combine a business trip with a chance to give his Roberts an outing.

Photos from the ride are posted at http://tinyurl.com/egz2 http://tinyurl.com/een2

Next months ride will be on 13th July. We will again have Show & Tell for those of you who have cool stuff that needs an outing.

See you then
