Engravings in chrome parts often get polished away or filled after replating. One option would be to have the engravings reengraved before plating so that they are deeper. I have never done this but have lost several engravings. You can also ask the plater to be very light when polishing around the engravings. When possible, I have duplicates of parts replated at the same time, then pick the best ones and use the others for lesser bikes. This is one reason why NOS is better.
