Doesn't this disprove your hypothesis of aeorodynamic advantage? Nobody's argueing that fenders slow anyone to a snail's pace but you haven't shown any proof of going faster with fenders. As to wind tunnel experience, I worked for a builder that had lots and the rest of that story belongs offlist before somebody jumps ugly on me.
