Subject: [CR]Weinmann 48W pads

List:

There were some inquiries recently about Weinmann 48W pads (if I have the number correct) and there was much interest in the size, I'm assuming 48mm in width, and the construction (alloy backing and nuts and washers, and the Red compound stopped better supossedly. Kinda like a high end replacement brake pad that the LBS puts on DUI bikes (think Firenze 10 speed with upturned handlebars and a Kan Kooler on it for the Tall Boy). You know what I mean. Anyone know where to get these 'better' 48W pads? And what do they cost? Are they suitable replacements for Mafac brakes and any of the other centerpulls from the period?
