Hi Folks
I have support a few people here.I know this list was set up by Dale and
that he does a great job.To be able to bring together a like minded group
to talk about such an interesting topic is something that deserves our
respect in more ways than one.As the administrate he gets to say what is on
or off topic, OK.Having said that different people view ownership in
different ways. Many who see themselves as a little community minded may see
themselves as part owners in that community and feel the right to have some
say in its direction.Healthy community's are made up of diversity. My
personal slant on this last topical discussion was best summed up by Dennis
Young when he said
I think that what value, importance, and appreciation, we as
knowledgeable
collectors and enthusiasts 'attach' to classic bikes, is
generally in large
part a manifestation of the spirit or *soul* that was
originally put into
them by their creators. You sound as if you think that making
things that
have a longevity of appeal is done simply by cut and dry
techniques. I
would reason that going to the lengths to make something that
remains
practical and beautiful through the ages, is a lot more work
than just that,
and motivation is a relevant part of the equation. If it
were so easy to
define, more people would be doing it.
If we ignore this side to our interest then the list will degenerate into
just another bike list and as Brandon said that isn't what we want.
