Again what is classic. For someone who wasn't riding anything more then an old stingray before 1983, i have no 'memory' of riding lots of miles on some vintage italian racing bike, that wasn't vintage at the time of the riding. i'm 32 now and didn't really get into cycling until 1985. my nostalgia for bikes begins around then and with mountainbikes at that.

For me classic means, a bike with beautiful/interesting lug work or fillet brazing. there's some kind of 'simpler' design that i can't seem to explain but know when i see it. pedigree is a part of that mix but sometimes if that's an unknown it's not less classic.

a 20 year cut-off seems somewhat arbitrary to begin with. a date to define classic seems somewhat arbitrary since classic denotes a sense of style and design and not a date.

just my observation as a post-CR list-riding newbie who likes list era bikes too
