In reference to Dan's Motobecane head badge question
I have just joined and am a Motobecane fan since 74 when I bought my Grand Record. It came with a metal plate with 2 small rivets in the head tube.
Replaced this frame with a "Le Champion" in 81 when the Grand Record head tube cracked at the bottom lug in a sprint.( found out it was Durifort not Reynolds).
The Le Champ had a plastic emblem on the head tube, with no holes, just
adhesive.
>From looking at my old Motobecane literature from 74-84 most of the
higher end bikes, where I can see the head tube look like stickers or
plastic. No actual memory of looking at the emblems in shops back then.
I also destroyed this frame while riding, it broke the bottom bracket away from the seat tube. Too many miles out of the saddle climbing in the Rockies or poor French craftsmanship? ( went to a Merckx and still riding it..........!)
Anybody got a un broken Motobecane out there..........looking for another I have broken 2 Motobecane's and decided I need another to restore.
