I realize this isn't *quite* within topic...but vintage-wise it is, and I hope Dale will give me a bit of latitude here, since I know many of us who love vintage light-weights love vintage 3-speeds too...but if this is too off-topic, my apologies.
For Sale: BSA 3 Speed, probably early 70s or earlier, olive-green with white accents on the fenders (made by Raleigh). Completely original and *very* clean, except as follows:
*Missing one original pedal (has a cheap MTB pedal instead)
*The chain-guard is missing what these bikes are usually missing: the little take-off section around the rear-hub-cog, removed for lubrication, apparently, and never replaced.
Otherwise this bike is completely original, as far as I can tell...it was sold in Europe, and still has the cool Dutch shop sticker on the rear fender.
I bought this on ebay...I've since realized I am just not going to ride it enough to justify keeping it (and I'm really short on space these days for bikes I'll never ride).
$150 cash or interesting trade. Classic content: I will trade for any number of interesting vintage lightweight bits...how about Universal pointed-tip brake levers with hoods and adjustor caps? or a clean, used 151bcd Campagnolo road crank? or clean used pista cranks with or without ring...all are possible?
Southern California pick-up much preferred. Shipping this is going to be a real project. Shipping in the lower 48 will probably be anywhere from 50 to 100 bucks. It weighs a LOT.
No pics right now, but I can assure you it's very clean, and ready to ride. I can even throw in a correct-for-the-bike-and-period nearly NOS Brooks sprung saddle Model B-66, for another 50 bucks. It'll look perfect on the bike.
E-mail me privately if you're interested.
Thanks.
