It's a given that roadies coast when they let up, trackies don't have that luxury (or as Sheldon would say, "pernicious habit"). When you don't keep your feet spinning (particularly at speed), the "heavy foot/ non-supple leg" gets ejected as effectively as a James Bond baddie in the pasenger's seat. I'm missing several minutes myself from one such incident under conditions similar to Jamie's. The long suffering spouse's comment was that she was tiring of calls from people asking that she come pick me up from (emergency room, etc) because I was in no condition to go home on my own power.

Classic content, (cringe) that was a Merckx pista, tout Campagnolo. The first words I recall speaking, "How's my bike?" You can stop holding your breath, the bike was fine. Still ride it, but not with Jamie's level of success (sigh).
