from Sam DiBartolomeo: "I would like to see examples of drilled out NR rings and cranks, fluted seatposts anyone have any photo to email or photos they can take of their bikes?"

There was a good article in Bicycle Guide, which can be found on Mark Bulgier's generous archives. It's the "As Light As Air" article, at: http://bulgier.net/pics/bike/MagazineArticles/ (mapped)

There's another article, "Eddy and the Hour", which shows the drilling that Eddy's Hour Record bike was subjected to. This also shows the original "Mexico" treatment for the Campy cranks.

Somewhere, I have a scanned version of a late 70's article from Bicycling which reviewed track bikes. One bike was from Panasonic, and had been whittled away until it weighed 10.5 pounds, if memory serves. It was definitely in the "scary light" catagory. They even scrimped on the tape used to secure the tubular tires!
