Fag is a British colloquialism for a cigarette. The term fag paper comes from the papers you use to hand roll cigarettes. In the printing and engineering trades when you had to move something a minuscule amount a few microns ("a fag paper ") this expression was in common usage. So when people were having frames built with very tight wheel clearance they specified fag paper clearance. I realised that in the USA the term fag has somewhat different connotations but thought it would create a laugh. Hopefully when I get across the pond to attend one of your excellent events, I will be able to use "Fagged Out" tired on ones knee's or "Fag End" cigarette butt which will undoubtedly raise a few eyebrows. The Oliver frame it describes is a real speed iron. But the term "Iron" in London means the same as fag in the States you just can't win.
