Subject: [CR]Francophobia Warning: Stronglight BB and French FW Questions!

Serious Francophreaks, I have 2 French questions: 1. Regarding circa 1940s-50ish Stronglight BB, I have owned 2 French bikes w/ early Stronglight 49 Cranks. They each had the large engraved STRONGLIGHT lockring and typical hex adjustable cup. However, they each had the Campagnoloesque fixed cup with 2 flats and unmarked BB spindles. Question: was this original Stronglight or after-market? Anyone have 1940s catalog pix of Stronglight Cups?

2. Do French-threaded Freewheels mutate into uni-thread (BSA/French)? I think I have a 1960s French-threaded Normandy hub--it came from a Gitane. I tried French and British Freewheels and they both thread equally well. Could the threads have changed due to someone force-threading a BSA Freewheel? Thanks Scott in Saint Paul, MN
