========================================================================== Subject: [CR]What bike to bring to Velo Rendezvous??? Date: Sat, 25 Aug 2001 14:12:08 -0700 From: Chuck Schmidt <chuckschmidt@earthlink.net> To: classicrendezvous@bikelist.org
I just received an email from a friend and entrant to the Velo Rendezvous event coming up who saw that someone else was bringing the same model bike that he planed to bring. He felt it would be redundant to show his.
The analogy would be: Pebble Beach- someone else is showing a Ferrari Mexico so I guess I don't need to show mine :(
It is fun and a real education to compare and contrast the same model bikes (in this case Bianchi Paris-Roubaix!) so don't deprive the group of this experience.
Also, this event is not about perfectly restored bicycles. Original, unrestored beats restored in my "book." The show will be judged by the entrants themselves; each entrant chooses their first, second and third choice (by whatever criteria they want to use), and the total votes decides the "winner." (Think Hollywood Oscar Night when they say, "I don't consider myself the winner, but thank you for the validation of my work.")
