Subject: [CR]Claud Butler track bike, part 2

Just back from buying the Claud Butler track bike I posted about yesterday.

It has been converted to a road bike, with Campag 1010 dropouts. Unfortunately, the owner lost the originals when his tool box was stolen, however new ones should be easy enough to make.

The frame serial number is:

523

1247

so I assume the the frame was built in March 1952. Lugs and BB shell are Nervex Professional. The front dropouts have eyelets, suggesting a Road/Path frame. Does anyone have photos of the matching rear dropouts?

What model am I likely to have?

The components are a mixture of arguably original parts such as GB Kromo stem, and Chater Lea pedals; and road components fitted by the last owner during his teenage years in Zimbabwe. Understandably, the original inch-pitch drivetrain and track wheels didn't make the trip from Zimbabwe with the bike.

The seller is an aircraft mechanic, currently living in the hangar in which he works, which he shares with a P51 Mustang, and a Hawker Hunter jet fighter.

I will post some photos of the CB early in the week.
