As a buyer and seller, I have to defend paypal. First from a seller's perspective, true they charge a 4 percent fee for international transactions. But, I wonder how many customers in Taipei, Tokyo or Boston have bid well over an extra 4 percent for the convenience of using a credit card?
As a buyer, a couple of months ago, I purchased a +$2,000.00 bike from Europe. The seller promised that it would be ship promptly and be delivered w/in 10 days. 25 days, 6 emails and no responses later, I was out +2 grand and had no bike. So, I filed a complaint w/ Paypal--a complaint must be filed within 30 days, by the way. The next day, I received an email from the seller explaining that the bike just shipped. Also the seller desperately requested that I cancel my complaint. I explained that I would cancel my complaint upon receipt of the bike. The bike arrived via FEDX in 2 days. I cancelled my complaint. I wonder how paypal persuaded my seller.
