Hi Tom, In my observation, the skewer rod and the cams are different on the flat lever and curved lever QRs. The flat lever QR skewer rod has the hole off center, with a less pronounced cam on the lever. The curved lever skewer rod has the hole dead center and a more pronounced cam on the lever. I have found the pieces to be NOT interchangable, but I can't rule out that there was a time, during transition, when the pieces would in fact interchange. It does seem that the late pieces are not interchangable with the earlier pieces.
There was a time period when Campagnolo made six speed hubs and QRs, with
flat levers, that had the six speed length skewer rods. Those are what I'm
looking for. I've been using 5 speed rods in six speed spacing for years, it works,
but the skewer rods are a little short.
