Mike Butler recently asked where he could find a photo of Barry Hoban on an Andre Bertin bike. P183 of Kitching's 1970 catalogue shows Barry, as well as Albert Hitchen and Billy Holmes, all distinguished UK pros. They all road the Bertin C37 "Course Super Professionel" frames, painted in Bertin's brilliant black and red livery.
I have followed the thread about the Haden Concorde lugsets and am surprised that it seems to have found favour across "the pond" Generally speaking Haden's lugs tended to be quite bulky and badly produced when compared to some other Italian and French brands. To make the look reasonable they neede quite a lot of pre-brazing trimming and filing
For those lovers of the long point lug amongst you, I have a bin full of VERY long point Hadens with each point being some 2" almost in length. Never seen to my knowledge in the Company's catalogue, the lugs were available with either windows or without. All mine have windows, and a very peculiar window cut centrally ta the front of the head-lugs.
Having worked with a lot of Haden's "Specialist" lugs - their version of a Nervex Serie Legere cut-out, I am fairly convinced that the Serie Legere set shown on the CR Lugs and Tubes site are actually Haden "Specialist" as they are longer in the pipes than Nervex.
Has anyone got a set of Oscar Egg lugs to sell on?
