Subject: [CR]Paramounts and pinstriping, redux

Regarding the chat earlier in the week about Paramounts and pinstriping, I have just acquired a 1972 Schwinn Paramount that has extensive, perhaps one might say, "psychedelic" pinstriping and "Paramount" painted on either side of the seattube. I wrote to Waterford inquiring whether this was a Schwinn paint job at the time. I received a very courteous and quick (I might add) response from Richard Schwinn (that's impressive, it seems to me, that he takes the time to respond to inquiries.).

While he did not have the answer to question about the authenticity of the paint job, he asked for jpegs which I sent him (anyone on the list interested, I will send them to you.) so that he could research it further. (I'm a little long winded here, before I get to my point.) He did say that the pinstriper for Schwinn retired in 1972. That might explain why some have the pinstriping and others don't.

In any case, I found it interesting, but as Harvey Sachs writes often, your mileage may vary.

Cheers.
