Hi Suzy, welcome to the list, good to see another downunder member, i'm in NZ, anyway re the rim, I had an old alloy HP years ago, they were welded then machined, no join, mine was a little disscoloured at the weld, then I cleaned it up and you could not tell, so I suspect yours will be the same.
