Speaking of France-Loire:

In an article on the 1975 Paris "Salon de Bicyclette", BICYCLING! magazine showed pictures of a France Loire show bike that had been drilled and milled down to 15.5 lb.

It was a thorough-going job and serves as an inspiring example to the rest of us.

If you're going to go all the way with drilling: make sure to remove all the unnecessary chainring teeth, toestrap material, and for goodness sake don't forget to drill the frame lugs.

It is also clear that despite having only one arm, the Jubilee front derailleur is loaded down with dead-weight in the form of excess cage material. That thing really needs to go on a diet.

I scanned the (not very clear) photos if anybody wants 'em.
