Subject: [CR]Zullo Question?

Hi Mike ,

If you and the bicycle are in Austin , Texas , I'll mention that Wm. Lewis Imports ( first located in Austin , then moved a bit north to like maybe Pflugerville ? ) brought in quite a few Zullo frames , during the early-middle 1980's .

They seemed to be consistently well made , not very fancy , and sold for great prices . They were popular at the time I was there ( sometime in the 1983 - 1985 period ) . I remember the frames being cleanly made , with very smooth glossy paint . As I said , nothing fancy , but pretty good stuff . And , if I remember correctly , it was the Zullo frames which were available in the "day-glo" colors . I'm almost positive those must have been the Zullo frames . That paint was not the best stuff for bicycle frames . It tended to produce second-rate paint jobs . But it sure was noticeable ! Only a few frames in each shipment would come in wearing the "day-glo" colors . The first batch sat around unsold for a while . But then , in later shipments , after people had found out about them , it was the "day-glo" colors which sold out first !!

If Joan Jett had ever been pictured on an album cover , with a bicycle , it woulda been one of those . . .
