If you look at the weight difference between a light rim and the extra spoke weight for a 2 or 3 cross pattern vs. a radial pattern, you'll find you pay a BIG weight penalty to have a rim strong enough to withstand radial spoking. Since you mentioned you're trying to see how light you can make the TeleDyne, go for a lighter rim and 2 or 3 cross. You'll have a better wheel.
