Subject: [CR]Paramount Track Hubs, In-House or Schwinn Approved?

I always wondered whether Schwinn made these Paramount "Phone Dial" hubs or had another company do it under contract. If so, was it a US company? They seem to be exclusive to Schwinn, and they used them for quite a few years, so maybe they made them in-house. I know they made a lot of other components over the years, but most of those parts were steel. There is a long history in most manufacturing industries of farming out different manufacturing tasks for goods that never bore the actual manufacturer's name. Schwinn had a history of this with the Paramount frames as well, right from the beginning.

Schwinn had their own brakes, both sidepulls and cantilevers, rims, fenders, cranks, headsets, etc. Did they make all of these themselves? They must have had someone else making their tires.
