Did anyone make black toe straps in a material other than nylon webbing? Does anyone have any they'd like to part with that would be pretty much right for an edge-of-the-timeline bicycle made in 1983?

My response:

You can make them. Go to a leather supplier that services shoe repair shops. They have thick cowhide ladies purse strap material ( one half inch wide) that is finished on one side. Dye the leather to your favorite color and fasten them to your old Campy strap buckles. They should carry the rivets and the tool to fasten the leather to the buckle as well. Put toe strap buttons on the end and you're set. They look great. The leather tends to be more flexible and softer than the laminated Binda's everybody wants but they are really comfortable, nice looking and cheap.
