Ok, so I am adding a used OFMEGA headset to this headset horse-race. Here is a summary - thanx everyone for your great suggestions.

1. Tange Levin. Period correct but not Region(Japan vs. Europe) correct. Not really an OEM item in the early 1970's. 2. Chris King, no-label, $110. Period correct, Maintenance correct (meaning someone P.O.'d about having a campy headset fail would buy a Chris King and faggadabautit), but not Region/OEM correct. 3. Stronglight A9. Almost period correct (1980's), Region correct, and you can put a campy lockring and spacer on it and pretend it's a super record track headset (Thanx Stevan Thomas). On sale right now at Nashbar for $30. 4. Campy Chorus 1997 headset, ButItNow on Ebay for $40. Gruppo correct for a Campy bike, Region Correct, not period correct, but looks similar to a Super Record headset. According to Tom Sanders, it fools'em every time at the bike shows !!! 5. Ofmega Headset. period item I just got, well-used. It's Knockoff Correct, meaning this was a duplicate of the Campy Nuovo Record, until you read the fine print on the lock ring, and it was probably made in the same factory. I wonder if these are still made in Italy?

Tange Chris Campy Stronglight Ofmega Nuovo Levin King Chorus A9 steel Record ============================================================================ Period Correct ? yes yes no almost yes yes Maintenance Correct ? no yes no maybe no yes Gruppo Correct ? no no yes no almost yes Region Correct ? no no yes yes yes yes OEM Correct ? no no yes yes no yes Knockoff Correct ? no no yes no yes yes

It looks like a dead heat between Ofmega, Stronglight, and the ~1997 Campy Chorus, all showing 4 "corrects" out of possible 6 ...
