Maybe in the 1970's.

Well, I ran into Peter in Italy in mid 1961 just as he was headed home after many months in Europe. I think he started Velo Sport in 1962 after his return to Berkeley while I was busy working with Paragon.

Velo Sport was on University Avenue in Berkeley when I joined in early 1963. I worked there off and on for several years as my school schedule allowed.

Velo Sport moved to a much smaller shop on Grove Street and then a few years later down the street to its present location where I worked part time for a few more years.

Eisentraut was certainly in the area (he had been on the Army cycling team that was based in California). I never saw him build frames at Velo Sport in the time I worked there. I spoke with him at a memorial reception for Dave Staub, a mutual friend, and he was scratching his head too trying to remember exactly when he worked there.

Eisentraut may have been building frames in Chicago in the late 1950's but not at Velo Sport.
