Subject: [CR]Article in Bicycle Retailer - Ben Serotta

Hey' ya'll

Ben didn't talk about his Whitcomb experience much, but he did say some good things about fit and hopeful things about the future of road cycling.

I'll quote one bit - Ben says,

"I ride a steel bike with Campagnolo Nuovo Record occasionally and it rides great. I remember being interviewed in the late 1980s and I said racing and the bikes would evolve much more than they have. Companies repeat the same patterns over and over which is what happens when marketing and profit drive things."

What Ben didn't say is of course those companies make nothing backwards compatible so the rider of less than vintage machines is forced into expensive upgrades when his Dura Ace 8 speed shifters wear out... (Ann's humble opinion only).

I think one not in the bicycle bidness could read this article at Bicycle Retailer's website.

Sadly enough, I think Ben's dad just passed on, as the article is dedicated to Bernard Serotta, 2/21/22 - 1/12/04.
