The front brake on that Schwinn road bike is a New Departure hub brake actuated by the hand lever. As the last posting states they go for around $150 used on ebay. They go for a lot more NOS in the box. I use to have quite a few of these NOS and they all sold some time ago. They were used primarily on the balloon bikes of that era and that is who will seek and pay those amounts for that particular brake. It is not a coaster brake as you cannot back peddle to make it actuate. I have never seen one used on a lightweight before. I think this might be a retrofit as most of these brakes are. They are real heavy and not suitable for a lightweight bike.
