First, I am not even close to a MASI amateur so my opinions are just that, opinions. I saw something Sunday at the swap in Monson Mass that was interesting. There was a gentleman there who had a MASI 3V frame on a display stand. It was new and unbuilt. I was just lurking around when I heard him tell someone else that he is having MASI Italy build these for him. He will take orders and fill them. The first thing I thought is wow, sort of makes the MASI 3V name a bit cheapened. The bike looked nice but was not like the classic MASI bikes that I have seen. I did not ask price because if it was $100 I still would not have bought it. Just another bike frame that had no umph,as far as I am concerned. I also want to say that the Monson meet was pretty good this year. A great turn out and some fantastic bikes. There were some real rare and interesting balloon bikes and for once the Sting Ray bikes were outnumbered by the lightweights. I saw a real interesting BSA lightweight that Sam Fitzsimmons had for sale. Campy Gran Sport 5 speed. GB brakes, nice blue with matching blue Blumel fenders with the BSA logo on them. Overall a nice period correct historic piece. The only downside is that the seat stays were damaged. You would have to be an expert at seat stay straightening to make this worth while. He was only asking $400 but no takers. There were more lightweights than any other bike type in the competition this year also. Saw a great Bianchi Paris Roubaix, the two wonderful Holdsworth bikes and some older antique stuff. Plenty of parts to go around. I scored a Brooks Pro in honey, a Suntour Subperb Pro 8 speed cassette and hub NOS, an NOS alloy water bottle, a used Unicanitor, a slightly used Ideale Rebour, a neat Celeste leather stitched covered plastic water bottle, a used set of SunTour barcons and a host of other items. I saw a lot of other nice items sell also. Wish I was quicker and in the right spot at the right time.
