Can someone here elucidate the history of Ciocc? In a paragraph or less, privately or on the list...? In particular I'm wondering how much presence this maker's frames have had in the pro peleton over the years--if any--and also, what was the story behind the name? Is it in fact just a nonsense word that looks/sounds good? (I wasn't aware--for instance--that umlauts were especially common in italian..) Or what? Why didn't the maker, obviously talented, just name them after himself?

And if this was all explicated in the recent Ciocc thread that I didn't read, I apologize.

I've always thought they were very pretty, up through 1984 or so... after which, quality seemed to decline some.
