This discussion brings up a few questions for me. I have a factory letter to dealers,from the early 70's. It's at

It gives lots of detail about the new serial # system, and lists all the plants that were being used. Including one in Malaysia. Do any of the Raleigh experts here have an idea as to wether all plants made lightweights? Or what

models came from which plants? It would be interesting to see if any high end bikes were made elsewhere especially Malaysia. It would have saved some money on shipping, but may have cost too much for tooling.
