Subject: [CR]Re: How the mighty ...

In regard to the list of builders who are still involved in building the bikes that leave their shop, I can think of five: Mr.Woodrup still builds his bikes along with his son in Leeds, UK. Mr.Witcomb still builds Witcombs near London, I believe. M.Marinoni until recently claimed to have a hand in the lugged frames that came out of their shop in Quebec. M. Berthoud still builds and measures customers for his bikes in Pont de Vaux, and Mr. Barry still makes Mariposas in Toronto. I feel very fortunate to own a Woodrup (76), a 70's Witcomb frame, and a lugged Marinoni. I was sorely tempted by M Berthoud, but was with my wife who talked me out of it. (We bought a daVinci tandem instead). Basement bikes 76 Woodrup World tourer(?) Very comfortable ride. Mix of friction stuff and new wheels and fenders 78 Raleigh Competition GS. All original and also a very smooth, quick handling bike. (thanks,Roy) 80's Marinoni. Cheri's slightly too large for her but beautiful bike 79-80 Basso mixte..light, quick and her main bike. Mix of Mavic and Huret parts, all drilled and anodized black. Bubble gum pink frame and disco bar tape. Works in progress: 60 Evans touring bike 70's Witcomb Wall memorial: 75 Motobecane Le Champion "rust never sleeps" with cracked seat tube and chainstay. 24 years of hard use and it got me home even after it cracked. OT: Pocket Rocket,PDG Paramount, daVinci tandem. Doug Wagner Richmond,KY
