Subject: [CR]The 'ol broom stick in the seat tube trick: update

Hey, As I mentioned last week this guy I traded a '70's gitane supercorsa for had stuck a broom stick in the seat tube 'cause he had the wrong size seat post. It was half way down the seat tube and not an obvious way to get it out. Finally tapped the end portion of a 3/8" rod into a wood screw. Stuck the rod down there and screw it in and pulled out the stupid thing like a cork.

So now I got it out -- what is the correct size seat post? As I mentioned, it's a early 70's Gitane Supercourse. I see older simplex seatposts on ebay with the little badge emblem -- just because they're french does that mean it would fit my gitane?

Thanks
