Thanks for that story Dave! Every so often, I get the "bug" to get the bike I ride the most, my beloved 76 Viscount, professionally restored. The deep, red paint has faded and gotten chipped here and there and the stickers and decals are peeling after all those years we spent riding on A-1-A in the South Florida sun. Every time I start though, I'm stricken with the (irrational I know) fear that after all the massaging it would take to return her to "As New" she would somehow be "different" and the ride would change. Or worse, I'd be afraid to ride except on perfect days on perfect roads. Besides, the sticker from "Silver's Cyclery" is irreplaceable; even though it has lost ALL of it's lettering and is now just a silver oval on the seat tube.
