Folks,

It sounds like there isn't an easy way to tap my brother's crank arms out so he can use his Looks. It also sounds like there aren't a lot of these older TA cranks around anymore that still have their back o' the crank arm caps still in place. We would prefer not to punch out the caps and tap to standard threading if it can be avoided. Anybody want to trade some 175mm Cyclotouriste arms in good condition for this pair (nothing wrong with them that I am aware of)? Straight trade, each party pays to ship his crank arms out...

Thanks, Doug

Howdy folks.

My brother has a set of older TA Cyclotouristes that have French pedal threads. I got him a good deal on them assuming that it was simple to tap them out. His set has the pedals holes with the disks closing them off from the back side. He finally took the bike to a trustworthy shop to have them tapped out, and it turns out that the typical tap is a long tapered thing that will only work if the disks are punched out (which we would prefer to avoid). Is there some other kind of tap that will work in a blind hole? Would any bike shop have this device?

Thanks, Doug
