Richie,

Tyhat BB cutout is a new one on me. Never seen that cutout on a Masi before; have seen very simular on an old Pogliaghi except the 4 radiating slots were "exclaimation point" shaped, tapering to smallest in the center close to the hole in the center.

I think I saw a Masi many years ago with one of those BB shells, but I don't remember the cutout; only that it wasn't like yours in the photo. What is the Letter stamp next to the size on that bike?

There are quite a few variations in Masis, especially in the 1968 to 1973 period, Italian Masis obviously, it seems. Supports the multiple contractor thing quite well.

does anyone out there have, or has anyone seen, another masi bb with the 5 hole decorative cutout that i have on my 1971 59cm eenie gran crit, the left hand side in the 4th pic down: http://www.classicrendezvous.com/Italy/Masi/Masi_RS1.htm

it is the only shell i've ever seen like this and i am interesting if any listees know about similar bb's. ALSO - this is the only eenie gran crit that i ever saw that does NOT have a george fisher sand cast shell. does anyone know of any masi frames from this error* that match this spec?
