That is an interesting combination. My understanding of those mounts has always been that they were intended primarily for your fuel bottle when Touring. That's what I mostly used mine for on my Woodrup, although it's actually mount #2 - there isn't one on the ST.

I received another Columbine this week, my fourth, and the sixth I've owned.

This one has road geometry, no eyelets, but interestingly, has three water bottle mounts--two in the normal spots on the down and seattubes and one under the downtube. I'm curious about how often that is a specification given by customers who are having a road bike built. In my experience, I have only seen a third mount on touring bikes. It is nice to have such a mount if you live in a hot climate where there are no convenience stores or gas stations every ten miles. Lou Deeter, Orlando Fl
