Hi there, I have had a few enquires about several topics off list and thought it might be useful to share this information Jack Sibbit successful English racing cyclist's 10 British championships and represented Great Britain in the Olympics. Famous for racing well into his 40's. Owned a shop in Manchester in Great Ancoats Street made his own frames in the kitchen behind the shop. The shop was there in 1939 when he built Reg Harris's track bike. Jack was a mentor to Reg and helped him out a lot in the early days building his bikes and giving him equipment etc. Reg Harris came form Bury. The Trivelox gear was made by Triumph Cycles from 1936 onwards. They made three types of derailleur's. There famous gear is where the sprockets slide on the freewheel body to stay in line with the mech manufactured from about 1936 onwards. They also made a conventional rear mech supplied with its own freewheel hub unit. This hub was very similar to the Bayliss Willey Freewheel Unit Hub where you could change the individual sprockets easily. The third type was just the rear mech. Think they were referred to as A,B and C type not 100% certain on this?

Weights of lightweight accessories. Ron Kitching published a separate table in their Everything Cycling catalogue annually. Which listed the exact weights of the components they sold. Ideal if you were weight conscious when building your ultimate lightweight. Can find an old copy and send a scan of these tables to the gentleman that asked.

Unusual beer went for a ride with my best cycling mate today. Stopped lunchtime for a "Ruby Murray" cockney rhyming slang for a curry. I had a lamb jalfrazi nearly blew my head off washed down with a very unusual beer. This was Robert Cain's Fine Raisin Beer 5% ABV made with succulent Californian raisins and finest English hops a mix made in heaven. Cains are from Liverpool and make another excellent beer called Formidable. I was on my Galibier and Mike was on his totally original RRA, could only have two pints each as we were riding. Mind you anymore of this excellent brew and you would have needed auto pilot to get home!
