Hi Ann,

When painting a new frame, I looked into the whole decal business, and decided (especially given that I have some really intricate ones to do for my Malvern Star restoration) that the best thing to do would be to simply learn the craft and make my own.

I used decal paper from Beldecal, decal lacquer from Australian Specialty Inks, and used a simple silkscreen printing process to print them.

It cost a bit to get up and started, but now I have all the equipment I need to make any decal I want. At the moment I'm printing some simple Colnago ones for a respray of my OT Colnago race bike.

I found making my own decals was a really enjoyable (if at times frustrating) experience.

I've detailed my experiences at http://www.atnf.csiro.au/people/Suzy.Jackson/frame/transfers.html
