A really nice ride on Sunday. A pleasant group of people and one of those legendary, warm, sunny, southern California days.

Speaking of the power of the press: two people, who had read the LA Times article about the ride, showed up with their classic bikes, asking us about them and their significance. One was a lady with a rather nice Peugeot (531, Nervex) who planned to give it to her nephew, but wanted to know if it was worth anything before losing hold of it. It wasn't--had a lot of new components, some rather low quality--but we assured her that her nephew would have a very nice rider.

More interesting was an early, original, and VERY well used 60s Urago. The owner still had the original sales receipt and catalog info. He couldn't ride it any more, because of knee problems, but wanted to see if anyone was interested in it. It had a lever-operated front derailleur and two-cable rear derailleur. The finish was totally wiped out, but the frame artwork was still there, in copyable condition. No one seemed ready to guess at a value, but we gave him the CR list information anyway, so you might see it for sale here. I think Charles Andrews got his contact info, so you might contact Charles if you're interested. It was about a 56 cm frame.
