I'm loving this topic - I built a Corsa 0.1 this winter and it's quickly becoming my favorite bike. I've got a question on another Merckx bike - a 10th Anniversary frame I just picked up, but since it's a little out of the time period this list, I haven't asked. It has a Cycleart paint job on it, so the authenticity could be questioned, I suppose. Is there a database on Merckx serial numbers to check these things by? Being a '90 frame, I guess I'll have to wait another 6 years to move it from the "modern" side of my shop to the "classic" side, eh?

I asked Mike about this, to see if he had some insider's info, because I know that Merckx used to go to great lengths to say that they made their bikes in-house. That may have been a marketing ruse, but I don't think so. It may be that Mike has just assumed this (it's a logical assumption, based on other marques practices) but I think this bike frame was made in Belgium (Albeit on Italian carousel frame building equipment, etc., etc.) Dale
