Subject: [CR]Shipping frames to the US

>From e-mail I received from the bike shop in Germany Re: shipping my Eddy Merckx MX leader to me.

"The next big problem was the maximum package measurement. A frame box is 102 x 20 x 70 cm, but they will only ship boxes with max. 120 x 60 x 60 cm. But this is not more a problem, we can take a box of 110 x 50 x 50, the frame will go in there in a diagonal direction. The DHL shipment to the US is always by air, but they told me the price for "DHL normal airmail" (39,00 €), shipping is about 10 - 15 days (Over Christmas and New year it may be 1 week longer). The price for "DHL Service airmail" (about 5 days) will be 69,00 €, and for "DHL Express airmail" (1-2 days) 190,00 €."

My frame was shipped on Jan 12 and I received it Jan 26....not to bad. I tried to track it thru DHL but that is not possible too many # and I think you have to pay for a tracking # to be able to do that. Al I had was a shipping # I did not realize you had to pay for a tracking #.....at least I assume this is what happened.

My shipment came from the Koln area and was shipped to Frankfurt to Maryland for postal inspection and then to Colorado.

Shipped via German DHL post office, in the US the Posties delivered it to me. No damage and package in good condition same as the photos taken before it was shipped.

Rode it for the first time today. WOW.....
